BBC new home page - beta

iBBC? BBC Homepage? MyBBC? MYBEEB?
Who knows but the new personalised, customisable BBC homepage looks interesting. Very chunky, very user-friendly, very AJAX packed and very clean.
However, as Rico asked, why fix it to 1024? Surely the Beeb out of any website should cater for all, including the 800 x 600 users?

Why goddammit? Whhhhhhhyyyyyy? Suppose the scale of the site might be the off putting factor when deciding on it’s flexibility. But still, from the homepage design, it looks like it’s a site that wouldn’t be that difficult to ‘flexify’. I might borrow the source and try it. However the CSS is a one liner!
Vast improvement though.
Haha why not send them a video of it working - flexification in action but not the source. See what they offer you for a perfect solution they just need to upload!
Well, I reckon they will have thought about a lot about it. It’s a big decision to fix a site as popular as the BBC to 1024. They have spent a lot of time thinking about functionality. There’s something new everywhere you look. And it even has good accessible no-javascript fallbacks.
I might try it over Christmas. Got a few new tricks up my sleeve
Haha, the more I look at it, the more impressed I get. Well done BBC. I would have loved to have been part of that project.
Something new eh….Ianteresting. Keep me posted.
